Link: Halo: Reach Advert
Evaluation
After finally completing my advert earlier today by recording the voices I was ready to upload it to 'YouTube'. Before I did that, however, I watched it in order to make sure it was ready to submit. After I watched the video I was ready to write out my evaluation and upload it.
My favourite part of the video is how well the in-game footage of the 'Hornet Gunship' transitioned into the 'Pelican Dropship' from the campaign trailer without looking conspicuous. I also liked how the CGI footage from the trailer and the in-game footage seemed to blend together quite well.
My least favourite thing about the video was the way I handled the audio; although I added the sound of the pelican to the in-game footage, the rest of the audio didn't work well together at all. The theme music to the trailer changes too much between the landing of the ship at the beginning and as the Spartans are sprinting towards an explosion. Also, because there was no music on the in-game footage, whenever there was a transition, the audio would just cut out.
Overall, I think my advert for Halo: Reach came out reasonably well. Despite the rushed filming and the interruptions with the audio, I think the visual transitions worked well. I also think that the video does a good job of letting the audience know what is being advertised. If I hid a chance to do it again, I would have preferred to have the speech for the soldier to be clearer.

Production Diary 2
During the post production for my Halo: Reach Advert, I realised my video was too long. Because of this, I had to think of a way to create a shorter advert.
The New Story For My Advert: A Sniper lookout watches a Spartan transport ship fly overhead, as the sniper watches the Spartans depart from their ship, he realises they are coming for him. As soon as the Spartans start running at him, the sniper turns away and begins to run away from the now sprinting Spartans. The title page appears with the release date, then goes to the Xbox 360 logo.

Production Diary 1
Yesterday I recorded some footage for my Halo: Reach advert. I managed to film over half of my in game footage on Halo 3 but I am yet to upload it to Bungie.net where I will be able to download it onto a PC for me to begin post production.
I filmed the interaction between my two characters and I plan to complete the in game footage tonight. As soon as I have all my in game footage, all I will need is footage from one of the many Halo: Reach trailers available.

My Advert
For my advert I want to do a 'Red Vs Blue' inspired commercial for Halo: Reach. I would like to do it as a comedy. I plan to have a player running around on a large map by himself looking for other players until he finds one who explains to him that everyone is on the new Halo: Reach Beta Test.
