Video Link and Evaluation

Link: Halo: Reach Advert

Evaluation

After finally completing my advert earlier today by recording the voices I was ready to upload it to 'YouTube'. Before I did that, however, I watched it in order to make sure it was ready to submit. After I watched the video I was ready to write out my evaluation and upload it.

My favourite part of the video is how well the in-game footage of the 'Hornet Gunship' transitioned into the 'Pelican Dropship' from the campaign trailer without looking conspicuous. I also liked how the CGI footage from the trailer and the in-game footage seemed to blend together quite well.

My least favourite thing about the video was the way I handled the audio; although I added the sound of the pelican to the in-game footage, the rest of the audio didn't work well together at all. The theme music to the trailer changes too much between the landing of the ship at the beginning and as the Spartans are sprinting towards an explosion. Also, because there was no music on the in-game footage, whenever there was a transition, the audio would just cut out.

Overall, I think my advert for Halo: Reach came out reasonably well. Despite the rushed filming and the interruptions with the audio, I think the visual transitions worked well. I also think that the video does a good job of letting the audience know what is being advertised. If I hid a chance to do it again, I would have preferred to have the speech for the soldier to be clearer.
